THOUSANDS of elderly Australians who want the "basic human right" to have control over how they will die will suffer if the Rudd Government's proposed internet filtering law is passed later this year, says leading euthanasia advocate Dr Philip Nitschke.

While I agree that this will happen, as it is Euthanasia or assisting in allowing a person to have some dignity in death is illegal.
I wholeheartedly believe that the Euthanasia debate should be back on the agenda as it is a human rights issue.
But as it stands, Euthanasia is as ilegal as child pornography.
The way to get this changed would be to put personal choices BACK onto the person.
Marijuana, Euthanasia and "risky" pornography are all moral choices that really should not be illegal.
The touchy topic for me is information on terrorist camps and terrorist ideology. Right now it isn't (or shouldn't be) illegal for me to learn from free and open sources about "terrorists" (remember: the Tamil Tigers are classed as terrorists under Australian policies) - under the filtering scheme it would be illegal for me to learn something that hasn't been filtered by or appproved by the Government - now THAT is a scary thought.
