About No Internet Censorship
No Internet Censorship is an initiative of the Australian Democrats to oppose the current Government’s Internet censorship/blacklisting program in favour of programs that will provide the cyber-safety information and resources parents need to adequately protect their children.
The Government’s entire expensive exercise does nothing to protect our children, it misleads parents by telling them that it will protect their children, it undermines our freedom, and sets a dangerous precedent for secretive government intervention and censorship in the future.
It is our responsibility, as Australian Democrats, to forge and promote an alternative policy that will provide parents with the education and resources they need to protect their children, and not impact the freedom of other Australians.
Protecting children from the worst content on the Internet is important, but no country-wide mandatory filtering program can do that. The only solution is one that can be controlled and customized by educated and aware parents for their specific needs.
We’re encouraging the submission of new ideas and policy from the public. These suggestions, combined with input from industry experts, will result in a specific cyber safety policy proposal. This proposal will be voted on by the members of the party to become part of the Australian Democrats' platform at the next federal election.
Simple measures can be taken by every family to reduce the risk of accidental exposure to offensive content and online dangers. These ideas will feed in to the Australian Democrats' cyber safety policy that is currently being developed.

About the Australian Democrats
The Australian Democrats are a progressive centrist party. Founded in 1977 with a promise to 'keep the bastards honest', the party has a long history of presenting balanced alternative policies that move Australia forward while showing compassion for all sides in the debate.
The Australian Democrats' approach is to learn from what we have done in the past, take a balanced view of the situation, then apply common sense to work out what will work best for the future.
We are currently in a rebuilding phase, reviewing our policy and restructuring our organisation. Now is a great time to join the Australian Democrats and be a part of something special. All members have a say and can be involved as much or as little as they like in party operations, policy development, and campaigning.
